VINTAGE Large West German Pottery Jug
This stunning turquoise pottery jug was made by Carstens Tonnieshof in West Germany in the 1960's. The distinctive mid century fat lava glaze resembles ammonite fossils and was designed to be part of their 'Luxus' range which included Carsten's highest quality pieces.
With its unusual turquoise raised glaze and large size, this jug would make a statement when filled with flowers or displayed on its own anywhere in the home. A real collectors piece.
H: 24.5cm x W: 19cm.
It is in good vintage condition but does have some slight chips (see photos) and knocks to the glaze.
Embossed on the underside of the vase is the identifier '7497-25' and 'W. - Germany', along with the 'twin house' Carstens mark.
Also shown is our large ammonite fossil and collection of small ammonite fossils.
